New Project Allows High School Students to Work in Co-ops

President of the Kuwait Union of Consumer Cooperative Societies, the Ministry of Social Affairs has approved a proposal to permit high school students in the tenth and eleventh grades to work part-time at cooperative societies in the months of July and August, according to Abdulwahab Al-Fares.

Only the children and grandchildren of co-op shareholders will be eligible for employment, he added, adding that about 10,000 students.

Students can sign up to labour four hours per day at cooperative societies in their neighbourhoods in exchange for a financial award that ranges from KD 100 to KD 200, according to Fares.

The proposal was put forth in response to the Cabinet's directives to offer summer work options for Kuwaiti high school students.
