Kuwait Housing Project Stalled Amid Railway, Metro Conflicts

A proposed residential city near the 6.5 ring road faces setbacks as conflicting railway and metro projects halt progress.

The Kuwait Municipality has hit a roadblock in its plans to develop a housing project south of the 6.5 ring road and the West Abdullah Al-Mubarak area. Responses from government agencies, including the General Authority for Roads and Land Transport, Ministry of Transport, and Public-Private Partnership Projects Authority, have cited conflicts with ongoing railway and metro projects.

According to the municipality, the roads authority expressed inability to approve the transfer of the railway station mentioned in the proposal due to delays in the tender process. While the metro station falls outside their jurisdiction, complicating matters further.

Efforts to seek clarity from the Public-Private Partnership Projects Authority and the Ministry of Transport have yielded little progress, with both agencies citing jurisdictional limitations in commenting on the feasibility of relocating the metro station.
