Kuwait Bans 7 Food Items in School Cafeterias

The Ministry of Education is working to ensure a seamless start to the upcoming school year, focusing on student nutrition. In preparation, the Ministry has approved a variety of food products for school cafeterias, emphasizing healthy options like juices, milk, sandwiches, salads, and fruits.

Approved and Prohibited Food Items

To promote healthy eating habits, the Ministry has banned the sale of certain items in school cafeterias.

On another hand, to supply approved foods, 14 companies have been selected, each meeting strict standards set by the General Authority for Food and Nutrition. Key requirements include the provision of fresh products made on the same day, and food items must meet healthy school nutrition standards. Additionally, products must be packaged in appropriate containers, with glass containers being strictly prohibited.

  • Sports drinks and foods
  • Energy drinks and foods
  • Chewing gum, lollipops, candy, and sweets
