Flag Day: Protocol of How the UAE Flag Should Be Flown

UAE Flag Day is commemorated every November 3rd since its launch in 2013 by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. It marks the date when His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan became President of the United Arab Emirates in 2004.

How the national flag should be flown

There are strict laws regulating how the UAE’s flag should be flown.

The flag should be rectangular in shape with the height half of its width and the colours in the correct order.

The owner must check on the flag’s condition every 45 days to ensure no damage has occurred – and it must be changed every six months.
