DeepSeek Might be Banned from US Government Devices

A bill was introduced in the US Congress, which could lead to the potential ban of DeepSeek from US government devices.

A bipartisan group of senators introduced a bill that aims to address the security concerns of the Chinese-based generative intelligence chatbot.

The legislation follows a similar bill that was introduced in the House of Representatives a few weeks earlier.

Democratic representative Josh Gottheimer said, "Now, we have deeply disturbing evidence that they are using DeepSeek to steal the sensitive data of US citizens. This is a five-alarm national security fire."

This bill to ban DeepSeek from government devices comes after Australian politicians decided to ban the AI chatbot from government computers and mobile devices.

They explained that technology security experts found potential user-data vulnerability related to the Chinese government.

The state of New York has already announced a ban on the chatbot on all government devices, while Texas Governor Greg Abbott has demanded that government employees avoid downloading or installing the chatbot.
