A Kuwaiti national and another GCC national went missing in Iraq during a hunting trip in the desert, according to an official statement released on Monday, Dec. 25.

The two GCC nationals went missing in a desert between the Anbar province and the Salaheddin province in Baghdad, Iraq.

Kuwait's Foreign Minister Sheikh Salem Abdullah Al Sabah phoned his Iraqi counterpart to ask about the circumstances under which the Kuwaiti national had disappeared.

Hunters from the GCC nations often make trips to Iraq's southern and northern deserts to search for falcons.

During the phone call between the two foreign ministers, Iraq's FM told his Kuwaiti counterpart that Iraq's government would "determine the fate of the Kuwaiti national".

The security forces have launched a wide-scale search for the two missing foreigners.
