A year has passed, another is coming as we say goodbye to the year of the OX, and we enter the year of the Tiger on February 1st 2022; However, the pandemic is currently on the rise with the Omicron variant; people are still happy enough to celebrate, today we will explain what the Chinese new year is, and where can you see fireworks and eat good food on this precious day!

What is the Chinese new year?

The celebrations begin a week before that year's start, on January 28th people make cakes and puddings for improvements and wishing growth in the new year, then on the 30th comes a big clean up of the house to kick out evil spirits and bad luck, the festival would last for up to 15 days.

• Al Nakheel has announced that Ibn battuta, dragon mart, and the pointe will offer the Chinese new year starting January 30th - February 12th 2022.
• The pointe on Palm Jumeirah will do a special fountain show with songs playing in the background "Xi Qi Yang Yang" by Hong Kong pop band The Wynners, and the date will be 30th of Jan, followed by a night firework show at 9 pm.
• Ibn Battuta Mall will feature a lion and umbrella dance at the china court every 2 hours starting from 4:30 pm - 8:30 pm.
• Today on February 1st - February 7th in the dragon mart, there will be amazing shows of drummers, dragon dancers, lion dancers, fan and ribbon dancers celebrating from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm.
