What is Tahajjud?

Tahajjud is a voluntary prayer that Muslims can perform during the night after sleeping, before the obligatory Fajr prayer. It is a recommended prayer and is considered a form of voluntary worship.

The word "Tahajjud" comes from the Arabic root "hajada," which means "to stay awake at night." It is also known as "Qiyam-ul-Layl," which means "standing at night."

Tahajjud is usually performed in the last third of the night, but it can also be performed after the Isha prayer until the start of Fajr prayer. It can be performed alone or in the congregation, and it can consist of any number of rak'ahs (cycles) of prayer, but it is usually performed in sets of two rak'ahs.
