What is Red Bull Flying Day?
Red Bull Flying Day, also known as Red Bull Flugtag (German for “Flight Day”), is a quirky and thrilling event where teams build homemade, human-powered flying machines and launch them off a ramp into the water.
The event began in Vienna, Austria in 1992, created by Red Bull as a fun way to combine creativity, engineering, and extreme sports.
Since then, it has become a global phenomenon, held in major cities around the world, including Dublin, Johannesburg, London, and Bratislava. Teams are judged not only on flight distance but also on their creativity and showmanship, making it a wildly entertaining spectacle for both participants and fans.
