Former Kuwait PM Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah Dies at 82

Kuwait mourns the loss of former Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah, who passed away at the age of 82.

Born in 1942, Sheikh Jaber dedicated his life to public service, beginning his career in the Amiri Diwan, where he managed administrative and financial affairs.

Throughout his career, Sheikh Jaber held prominent roles, including governor of the Hawally and Ahmadi regions, and minister of social affairs and labour. He was also a key figure in the Emir’s office, serving as an advisor and later ascending to higher positions within the government.

In 2001, Sheikh Jaber was appointed deputy prime minister and minister of defence, and later took on additional roles, including minister of interior. His significant leadership continued when he became Kuwait’s prime minister in 2011, a role he held until his resignation in 2019.

Sheikh Jaber played a pivotal role in guiding Kuwait through periods of challenge and growth, leaving behind a remarkable legacy in the nation's governance. His passing marks the end of a notable era in Kuwait’s modern history.
