About Olive Tree Day
World Olive Tree Day takes place on 26 November every year, and it was proclaimed at the 40th session of the UNESCO General Conference in 2019.
Audrey Azoulay, Director-General of UNESCO said about the olive tree:
"The olive tree is much more than merely a tree with a gnarled trunk; it is the emblematic embodiment of the values of peace, wisdom, and hope – values that we wish to celebrate today, on this World Day."
