- Eat fruits and vegetables such as watermelon, strawberries, grapefruit, peaches and cantaloupe. Other good options include cucumbers, lettuce, zucchini, celery and tomatoes, as they are considered to be “water-rich” food.
- If you like to start your day with coffee, it would be ideal to start considering caffeine free coffee as you’d be surprised to know that coffee counts as part of your daily fluid intake. In fact, about 98 percent of your morning cup of coffee is water, might be the time to switch to iced coffee.
- Go for iced tea, and make it with a flavor as there are many flavor options to choose from, also tea has about half the amount of caffeine as coffee.
- Exchange fresh juice with coconut water. Yes, for sure fresh juices are essential and help in staying hydrated and healthy but coconut water is known to have fewer calories and added sugars than fresh juice, it is also known for being a great source of potassium.
- Exercise?
Exercise is an important component of your physical health, and you shouldn’t abandon it when the temperature rises. However, there are some precautions you can take that will help you avoid dehydration: Exercise during cooler times of day, or exercise indoors.
- Track your sweat
Sweat is the way your body cools itself (remember that it is not sweating that cools the body, but the evaporation of sweat.) The more you sweat, the more fluids you’ll need to replenish.
It is important to listen to your body and keep track to avoid dehydration, and lastly do not forget to take cool showers after a gym or beach session!
