US and UK Attacked Houthi Positions in Yemen
The US and UK conducted air strikes on military positions in Yemen of the political and military group Houthi on early Friday, Jan. 12.
US President Joe Biden claimed that these attacks were in direct response to the Houthi attacks on international maritime vessels in the Red Sea.
The US military had shared that the Houthis launched an anti-ship ballistic missile into the international shipping lanes in the Gulf of Aden on Thursday, Jan. 11, which was the 27th attack by the Houthis since Nov. 19, 2023.

British Prime Minister Rishi Sounak approved the attacks on the Houthi sites on Thursday, Jan. 11 after a meeting with his cabinet.
The UK contributed to the attack by using four RAF Typhoon FGR4s, supported by a Voyager air refuelling tanker using Paveway IV guided bombs to carry out precision strikes on a site in Bani and at the airfield in Abbs.

This action was taken jointly with the US in response to repeated Houthi attacks on ships in the Red Sea.

The city of Sana in Yemen has been on high alert since Thursday evening with the city witnessing a heavy presence of military trucks and Houthi military forces.
Houthi military sites and camps in Sana were also evacuated, according to residents of the Yemeni city.
