2024 marks a milestone in the partnership between the United Kingdom and Kuwait as both nations celebrate 125 years of diplomatic relations. British Ambassador to Kuwait, Belinda Lewis, described the year as a special chapter in the enduring friendship between the two countries.
Strengthening Cooperation
Ambassador Lewis emphasized the robust ties between the UK and Kuwait, built on decades of collaboration in trade, investment, defense, and security. However, she highlighted that the true strength of their relationship lies in the deep connection between the people of both nations.
Simplifying Travel
A key achievement in 2024 was the introduction of the Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) system in February. This initiative has made short-term travel to the UK more convenient for Kuwaiti citizens. Since its launch, an impressive 95,381 permits have been issued, with 47,142 processed between July and September alone.
