According to the latest announcement from the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation, From February 2, UAE government and private sector workers will have the option to work flexibly, part-time, or take up temporary jobs both working systems will be unified.
The provision of leave will also be the same for both sectors, with fixed-term employment contracts.
Under the new Federal Decree Law no. 47 of 2021, employees in both sectors will get the same end-of-service benefits.

All workers will be protected under anti-discrimination regulation prohibiting employers from recruiting on the basis of race, colour, gender, religion, nationality, social origin, or disability.

During a media briefing, Dr. Abdulrahman Al Awar, Minister of Human Resources and Emiratisation, said the unified system aims to build a flexible and competitive workplace, safeguarding employee rights across the country.
Last Tuesday, the UAE government announced federal government departments would switch to a four-and-half-day week from January 1, 2022.
