Every resident of the UAE checks the dates of the upcoming year's holidays before the new year begins. The UAE Cabinet declared official holidays for 2023. A couple of long weekends will be possible for residents to enjoy and plan their breaks.
Here is the list of public holidays in UAE for 2023:
- New Year's Day - January 1, 2023
The UAE has a public holiday on January 1 for both the public and private sectors every year. January 1, 2023, falls on a Sunday. Monday, January 2 will be the first working day of the year.
- Eid-ul- Fitr - April 2023
Residents of the UAE will experience their first long weekend of the year in April 2023, which is Eid Al Fitr. From Thursday, April 20, to Sunday, April 23, 2023, the long weekend should commence. Based on the moon sighting, these dates could change.
- Arafat Day - June 27, 2023
June 27 marks the start of the second day of the seven-day Hajj pilgrimage. A public holiday is declared for Arafat Day. Eid al-Adha immediately follows Arafat Day. Thus, from Tuesday, June 27, to Friday, June 30, there could be four consecutive public holidays.
Confirmed schedules for Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha will only be declared in Dubai based on appropriate moon sightings.
The other public holidays will be observed on July 19, 2023, to honor the Islamic New Year. Then on September 27, 2023, there is a public holiday in honor of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), and lastly, December 2023 will mark the end of the public holiday season with Commemoration Day on December 1st, National Day is on December 2nd with holidays continuing even on December 3rd, 2023.
