The United Arab Emirates announced yesterday, the restructuring of the “Social Support Program for Low-Income People” into an integrated program, with an amount of AED 28 billion.
The decision to restructure comes under the directives of the President of the State, Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, so that the annual social support allocation will increase from AED 2.7 billion to AED 5 billion, to provide a decent livelihood for citizens, according to what was reported by the Emirates News Agency, “WAM.”
The support program through the Ministry of Community Development in the UAE covers various basic axes for families with limited income, including the head of the family’s allowance, the wife’s allowance, the children’s allowance, financial support for housing, and basic needs such as food, water, electricity, and fuel, in addition to temporary financial support for unemployed citizens and researchers from work, and unemployed citizens over the age of 45.
The support program created 4 new allowances: “the housing allowance, the university education allowance, the allowance for unemployed citizens over the age of 45, and the allowance for the unemployed person looking for work.”
The four allocations aim to enable low-income Emirati families to obtain adequate housing, encourage outstanding children to enroll in university, and support elderly citizens.
