The Minister of Municipality H.E. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Subaie inaugurated the Rawdat Al-Khail Park in Al-Montazah area on April 10, in the presence of His Excellency Mr. Mike Borzicki, Mayor of Wilmington, Delaware, in the United States of America, and his accompanying delegation, which is currently visiting the country.

His Excellency the Minister of Municipality and Mayor of the American city of Wilmington participated in planting the tree of friendship between the city of Doha and the city of Wilmington, as an expression of the desire of the two cities to develop and strengthen friendship and cooperation between them in various common fields.

Mansour Abdullah Al Mahmoud, Assistant Undersecretary for Municipal Affairs at the Ministry of Municipality, confirmed that the opening of the Rawdat Al Khail Park comes within the framework of the great interest that the Ministry of Municipality attaches to the establishment and development of public gardens and parks in various regions in all municipalities, to be a healthy, recreational and tourist outlet for families, noting that the park is one of the oldest parksin Qatar and has a distinguished position among citizens and residents for decades.

For his part, Engineer Muhammad Ali Al-Khoury, Director of the Public Parks Department, explained that Rawdat Al Khail Park is one of the central parks that serve many areas close to its location, due to its large area of 140,000 square meters, making it one of the largest parks in the country, It also contains many recreational and sports facilities popular with visitors, which make it a healthy and environmental outlet for the residents.

Al-Khoury added that the park includes a pedestrian path with a length of 1,183 meters, a running track with a length of 1,119 meters, another for bicycles with a length of 1,118 meters, green areas on an area of 98 thousand square meters, and 1,600 trees, which contributes to making the park an aesthetic and attractive destination in the area, in addition to areas for exercise. It is equipped with fitness equipment, and two play areas for children divided by age groups from 2-5 years and from 6-12 years, taking into account children with special needs.

He added that the park includes 40 bicycle stands, 7 restaurant kiosks, 137 lighting poles, and 8 barbecue places, in addition to providing locally manufactured seating and a bike path.

Rawdat Al Khail Park is one of the oldest parks in Doha and includes perennial trees that constitute an environmental and cultural heritage. The park also serves the residents of many areas such as Al Muntazah, Msheireb, Fereej Abdul Aziz, Al Sadd, Al Nasr, Sudan, Najma, Mansoura, Al Hilal, the old airport, the new authority, Nuaija, Fereej Al-Asiri, Umm Ghuwailina, Fereej Al-Ali, Al-Doha Al-Jadida, and Bin Mahmoud.
