According to a report by Saudi Gazette on Sunday, the Ministry of Tourism has introduced 10 new laws in order to grow the tourism sector and keep up with the reformation that Saudi Arabia is experiencing across several industries.
The ten new regulations have been introduced in an effort to help promote a desirable environment for investment that includes sustainability, creativity, and business accessibility. Additionally, it has incorporated the management of tourism hospitality facilities, tourism consultation, private tourist hospitality facilities, experimental activities, an inspection of tourism activities, as well as groups to look into breaches of the tourism law and tourist sites.
Along with securing the rights of visitors and improving the quality of services offered, this also supports the economy and increases work opportunities.
The new laws mark the culmination of the measures the ministry has been working to implement in order to achieve the objectives of the general strategy for the growth of national tourism, according to Tourism Minister Ahmed Al-Khateeb. “These regulations would allow the ministry to strengthen cooperation with the private sector, and to offer job opportunities for the national competencies in the tourism sector,” said Al-Khateeb.
The government has given tourism operators and agencies 90 days to update their policies to comply with the new requirements and standards. In order to protect the rights of tourists, and the standard of the services provided, and to avoid facing legal repercussions and fines, the ministry has also requested that agencies and operators in the tourism sector take into account the rules of the new laws when undertaking their activities.
The new rules are available on the ministry's website and through its official social media pages.
