It is put on by the Department of Agricultural Affairs of the Ministry of Municipalities, in association with the Souq Waqif Services Center. At the festival, a variety of nearby farmers will display their products.

Due to its planned hosting of the FIFA World Cup in 2022, Qatar anticipates a significant demand for dates this year. The citizens of the GCC nations consider dates to be some of their favorite gift items.

The planning of this event is consistent with the State of Qatar's keen interest in promoting and assisting domestic production of all national goods, including dates in time for Qatar's production season.

In addition to enhancing dates cultivars all over the nation, the initiative is a part of the government's efforts to achieve food security, develop the agriculture sector and palm trees, and support farm owners and those interested in dates cultivation.

Yousuf Khalid Al Khulaifi, director of the Agricultural Affairs Department, stated that the festival aims to promote the production of dates, including all dates cultivars, and encourage local farm owners to continue offering and marketing their products directly to the public.

He assured that the festival would boost local farms' sales volume, improve their capacity to boost production, and modernize their marketing strategies.

According to Yousuf Khalid Al Khulaifi, the festival offers palm farmers a chance to share knowledge and expand their areas of cultivation.

Mohammed Al Salem, the director of Souq Waqif, stated that a suitable location has been chosen for the festival. The location has all the necessary buildings, including the camp where the festival will be held in Al Ahmad Square of Souq Waqif.

What Are the Times of opening?

Except on Friday, when doors will be open daily from 1 pm until 10 pm, the festival will be available to spectators from 3 pm until 9 pm.

At this festival, which includes more than 80 farms, participants will display their products made from several local date cultivars.

Why Do the Safety Precautions Exist?

The festival's organizing committee has established a number of prerequisites and requirements for the entities that are interested in participating, including that the entities should make sure that the dates are good, clean, and insect-free.

A group of experts from the Department of Agricultural Affairs will gather samples of dates for additional inspection and analysis to make sure they are free of potentially dangerous substances, such as pesticide residues.

The committee reaffirmed its commitment to pursuing preventative measures to slow the spread of the coronavirus and urged the audience to follow them.
