HH Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled, a distinguished figure, brings a wealth of experience to his new role. With a background in political science from Kuwait University, he has held various prominent positions, including heading the Kuwait National Security Council and serving as foreign minister.
His tenure as foreign minister, from 2011 to 2019, was marked by a commitment to advancing Kuwait’s diplomacy on the global stage. Later, he assumed the role of prime minister, steering the nation through crucial phases until 2022.
The appointment of a new Crown Prince is a constitutional requirement, and while endorsement by the National Assembly is typically necessary, current circumstances have expedited the process. With parliamentary dissolution and constitutional suspension, the Amir’s decision stands.
Moving forward, the transition will involve constitutional measures overseen by HH the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Al-Abdullah Al-Sabah. Kuwait anticipates a smooth transition as it charts its course under new leadership.
