Despite the Saudi Minister of Sports' denial of what was reported about the Kingdom's intention to organize the 2030 World Cup, rumors returned and spread through social media, prompting the Ministry of Tourism to intervene.
In a tweet, on Wednesday, the Ministry reiterated that the Kingdom had not submitted any official offer to host the FIFA World Cup.
The Ministry explained via Twitter, that Saudi Arabia is always interested in hosting major sporting events, as part of promoting sports and tourism internally, in line with the goals of Vision 2030.
This official announcement came days after the Saudi Minister of Sports, Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Faisal, confirmed that his country does not have any offer now to host the 2030 World Cup.
He made it clear, in statements to the American network CNN, that the Kingdom is currently focusing on two files to host the Asian Cup for men in 2027 and for women in 2025.
It is noteworthy that the Saudi national team is preparing today to meet its Mexican counterpart, while the two teams aspire to obtain one of the qualification cards for the round of 16.
