Kuwait will recruit domestic workers from Ethiopia, following the recent tensions with the Philippines, according to a report by Arab Times Online.
Around 600 employment agencies, operating under the Ethiopian Federation of Domestic Workers, will contribute to this initiative, the report added.
Khaled Al Dakhnan, the head of the Union of Domestic Labour Recruitment Offices in Kuwait, announced that a bilateral agreement has been reached with the Ethiopian counterpart.
The agreement aims to ensure having well-trained domestic workers from Ethiopia in Kuwait after the high demand created by the halt in recruitment from the Philippines.
This collaboration anticipates the establishment of a permanent labour agreement between Kuwait and Ethiopia in the near future, followed by a memorandum outlining worker training prerequisites.
