Real Madrid defeated Valencia on penalties in the first semifinal of the competition, which was held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and allowed Real Madrid to qualify for the 2023 Spanish Super Cup final.
Taking against the winner of Thursday's semifinal between Barcelona and Real Betis, Los Merengues will now have the opportunity to win their second trophy of the 2022–23 tournament on Sunday. In August, Real already won the UEFA Super Cup.
