Protestors Started a Fire Near Mexico's Israeli Embassy

Protestors started a fire near the Israeli embassy in Mexico City on Tuesday, May 28 after 200 people joined the 'Urgent Action for Rafah' demonstrations outside of the embassy.

The demonstration was organized after the recent Israeli attacks in Rafah on Sunday, May 26, which killed at least 45 people. 

During the demonstration, protestors had a confrontation with the police as some protestors broke down barriers that prevented them from reaching the embassy. 

Protestors threw stones at the riot police who deployed tear gas in response.

Various videos have gone viral on social media, showing a fire erupting near the embassy in Mexico as the protestors chant, "It's not a war, it's genocide!"

The International Court of Justice (ICJ) revealed on Tuesday that Mexico applied to intervene in support of South Africa's genocide case against Israel.

Mexic stated that it “seeks to intervene, in order to provide its view on the potential construction of the content of the provisions of the convention relevant to this case.”

The country also explained that "the deliberate obstruction of access to humanitarian assistance” and the “destruction of cultural heritage' should be considered in South Africa's ongoing case against Israel.
