Pakistan introduced its Hajj Policy 2024, marking a huge reduction in the pilgrimage cost under the government scheme. The Religious Affairs Minister, Aneeq Ahmed, unveiled the policy, disclosing a reduction of Rs100,000 ($347.92) compared to previous years.

Hajj, an annual Islamic pilgrimage, holds significance for Muslim adults, mandated at least once in their lifetime for those who are physically and financially capable. Traditionally a massive religious gathering, it involves prayers and rituals performed in the sacred city of Makkah.

This year's policy change includes Saudi Arabia restoring Pakistan's pre-coronavirus Hajj quota of 179,210 pilgrims, while also lifting the upper age limit of 65 years for participation. To further ease financial burdens, negotiations with airlines aim to decrease Hajj flight fares, and any savings will be directly deposited into pilgrims' accounts.

Pilgrims for Hajj 2024 will experience a digitized approach, receiving a smartphone app aiding navigation around Makkah. Additionally, an option allowing pilgrims to spend four days instead of eight in Madinah could save them Rs35,000 ($121.77). Karachi's inclusion in the Makkah Route initiative has been announced, with Lahore, Quetta, and Peshawar requested for inclusion as well, offering convenience in completing entry procedures at home country airports.

Hajj applications will be accepted from November 27th until December 12th, marking the beginning of the process for prospective Pakistani pilgrims.
