Inspired by a true story, Netflix's Arabic-language original is set in 1980s Kuwait when the stock market in the country was booming, and follows the story of two women who upended the world of the male-dominated stock market.

Farida is a recent divorcee who is on a mission to become self-sufficient and prove she can provide for her daughter, while Munira is a Clerk for the Bank of Tomorrow's Trading Division, at the Kuwait Stock Exchange.

The show stars a cast of Kuwaiti talent, including Rawan Mahdi as Farida, Mona Hussain as Munira, Mohammed Al Mansour, Faisal Alamiri, and Hussain Almahdi.

The series was written by Nadia Ahmad, Anne Sobel, and Adam Sobel, produced by Abdullah Boushahri, and directed by Jasem AlMuhanna and Karim El Shenawy.

"I grew up in Kuwait, surrounded by empowered women who were pioneering industries, especially in finance. They demanded to be heard and succeeded, breaking into the workforce and blazing new trails for future generations. 'The Exchange' is my love letter to them, bringing an amalgamation of them to life in Farida and Munira in a new and exciting way," Ahmad said in a statement.
