Malaika Arora's Father Passes Away, Aged 62
According to media reports, he passed away after attempting suicide, but the Mumbai Police is still investigating.
Bollywood actress Malaika Arora's stepfather, Anil Mehta, passed away on Wednesday morning, Sep. 11 in Mumbai, India, after attempting suicide, according to a report by ANI.
Mehta, aged 62, passed away after jumping off a terrace, according to ANI, but the Mumbai Police have said that they are carrying out an in-depth investigation into the incident.
The police said in their official statement, "We are investigating all angles in detail, Our teams are here, forensic teams are here as well. The body is being taken for postmortem. We are investigating everything in detail...Prima facie it seems to be suicide, we are conducting further investigation.”
Mehta is survived by Malaika Arora, her sister Amrita Arora, and their mother Joyce Polycarp.
Arora was out of town for an event when the incident occurred, but she rushed to the location after receiving the news.
Various Bollywood celebrities visited the family to offer their condolences including Arora's ex-husband Arbaaz Khan and so did Arjun Kapoor who was in a relationship with Arora.
Salman Khan's mother Sushila Charak also visited Malaika's residence to offer her condolences. Other members of the Khan family also visited the actress including Salim Khan, Salma, and Sohail.

Other Bollywood celebrities who visited Arora included Saif Ali Khan his wife Kareena Kapoor Khan who is close friends with the Arora sisters.
Ananya Panday and her father Chunky Panday also visited the bereaved family. Kajol also visited Arora to offer her condolences.
