Kuwait's Public Authority of Manpower (PAM) has temporarily halted the renewal of thousands of work permits for many expatriates who work across various sectors.
The authority did so to verify the authenticity of the expats' academic certificates and to ensure that their occupational roles aligned with their job descriptions.
PAM has temporarily stopped work permit renewals to regulate the job markets and readjust the population structure.
PAM also practices strict scrutiny towards job descriptions within the legal sector.
The authority has particularly revised regulations to emphasize that the job of a legal researcher is for expats who have a law degree from an accredited university.
Job descriptions from the media sector also need to be submitted to the Ministry of Information for approval.
