The Kuwaiti government tendered its resignation to His Highness Crown Prince Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, state news agency KUNA confirmed after local reports surfaced on Monday.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Barrak Al-Shaitan said in a statement that the resignation is due to a deadlock reached on various issues with the legislative authority during the first session of the National Assembly’s 17th legislative term.
The Deputy Prime Minister also expressed his confidence in the wisdom of His Highness Sheikh Meshal in taking the necessary action in line with the highest interest of the country.
The cabinet that was led by Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Al-Nawaf Al-Sabah submitted its resignation after only 100 days in office.
This marks Kuwait’s fifth collective government resignation in two years.
