On Tuesday, the State of Kuwait made a significant appeal to the international community, urging unified efforts to hold the Israeli occupation accountable for its severe crimes committed in Palestine and Lebanon. This call was delivered by Kuwait's diplomatic attaché, Zeina Al-Dalloum, during a speech at the United Nations' sixth political committee on legal affairs.

A Call for Justice

Al-Dalloum emphasized that the actions of the Israeli forces amount to genocide and crimes against humanity against both Palestinian and Lebanese populations. She pointed out the troubling silence from the international community while Israeli forces have been committing atrocities in the Gaza Strip for over a year. Moreover, she condemned the ongoing aggression against Lebanon, highlighting Kuwait's strong disapproval of Israel's disregard for international resolutions that demand a full withdrawal from Palestinian territories.

Violations and Threats to Sovereignty

The speech also addressed the violations of Lebanon's sovereignty by Israeli forces, which have threatened the country's security and led to civilian casualties. Al-Dalloum's remarks underscored the urgent need to recognize and ensure the rights of Palestinians to self-determination. She called for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state based on the borders of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital—a crucial step toward achieving international peace and security.

Kuwait’s Commitment to Justice

Kuwait has consistently advocated for justice and the fight against injustice, violence, and corruption. Al-Dalloum referenced Kuwait's address to the International Court of Justice (ICJ), discussing the legal implications of Israeli occupation policies on the occupied Palestinian territories, including Al-Quds Al-Sharif.

She noted that upholding the rule of law—both internationally and locally—is vital for sustainable development, economic growth, and the fight against poverty and starvation, while also protecting human rights and freedoms. Kuwait's Constitution enshrines respect for the rule of law and the separation of powers.

Empowering Women and Digital Innovation

Highlighting Kuwait's commitment to gender equality, Al-Dalloum pointed out the important roles women play in decision-making processes and their representation in judicial, executive, and legislative authorities.

Additionally, she announced Kuwait's ongoing digitization efforts with the launch of the "Sahl" app, designed to streamline and enhance public services for its citizens.
