The Supreme Committee to Investigate Kuwaiti Citizenship has announced the revocation of citizenship for 1,758 individuals. The decision was made during a recent meeting chaired by Acting Prime Minister and Minister of Defense and Interior, Sheikh Fahad Yusuf Saud Al-Sabah, who also leads the committee.
The Ministry of Interior released a statement confirming the decision, which is pending further approval by the cabinet. The move underscores Kuwait's ongoing efforts to scrutinize and manage its citizenship policies.
This development highlights the government’s strict stance on ensuring citizenship laws are adhered to, though the exact reasons for the revocations have not been disclosed. Kuwait has previously taken similar actions in cases involving fraudulent claims, dual nationalities, or breaches of loyalty to the state.
The citizenship status of these individuals will remain revoked unless the cabinet overturns the committee’s recommendation.
