The Ministry of Health (MoH) is ramping up efforts to prevent the spread of mpox as travelers return from their summer holidays. In a recent meeting, health zone directors and heads of preventive and public health centers discussed the preparedness of these centers to handle any potential cases.
Vaccine Stock pile and Distribution Plan
According to informed sources, the Ministry has secured hundreds of doses of the mpox vaccine, which are being stored in specialized medical warehouses. These vaccines, similar to COVID-19 vaccines, require precise refrigeration and will be distributed to health zones if an outbreak occurs.
Targeted Vaccination Strategy
The vaccines will be administered selectively, prioritizing individuals who exhibit even mild symptoms of mpox. This approach aims to curb any possible spread while ensuring that vaccines are available and ready for immediate use if needed.
