As the final days of Ramadan approach, the Ministry of Education is deliberating on implementing distance education, a move that has garnered significant attention. Initially, discussions centered on shifting to online classes for just the last two days of Ramadan. However, sources revealed that the public education sector, along with the coordination department, has drafted a memorandum proposing an extension of this period.

Memorandum Under Review

According to the proposal, teachers would conduct lessons from school premises, following the academic schedule allocated for each educational stage.

Continuation of Successful Online Education

Citing the success of previous online learning experiences and the familiarity of both teachers and students with the application process, the ministry intends to continue leveraging distance education as required. With the upcoming parliamentary elections scheduled for next week Thursday, and schools slated for handover to the Ministries of Interior and Justice the preceding day, only April 7th and 8th remain open for educational activities.

Challenges and Solutions

Sources acknowledge potential challenges, including student absenteeism before and after holidays, particularly as April 9th marks a day of rest even during fasting. Recognizing these concerns, the Ministry of Education may resort to distance learning to address educational needs effectively. Pending approval by Dr. Adel Al-Adwani, the Minister of Education and Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, online education is expected to commence next Sunday.
