The Kuwait National Seismic Network, part of the Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research (KISR), reported an earthquake measuring 3.5 on the Richter scale in northeastern Kuwait on Wednesday, August 21, 2024.
Details of the Earthquake
The earthquake struck at 4:46 PM local time, with its epicenter 6 kilometers beneath the earth's surface. The tremor was felt across the region, but there have been no reports of significant damage or injuries.
Aftershock Detected
Later that evening, at 6:33 PM, an aftershock was detected in the same area. This aftershock registered 2.2 on the Richter scale and occurred at the same depth as the initial quake.
Ongoing Monitoring
Authorities are closely monitoring the situation to ensure public safety. As of now, there have been no reports of serious impacts from the earthquake or its aftershock.
