Kuwait has just witnessed one of its coldest Februarys in decades, with a severe drop in temperatures caused by a powerful Siberian cold wave. According to meteorologist Issa Ramadan, the cold spell is among the most extreme Kuwait has experienced in the past 60 years.
Unusual Temperature Drops Across the Country
The cold wave, which swept across the country, caused temperatures to plummet to unusual lows. In Mataraba and Salmi, the perceived temperature hit a chilling -8°C, while the actual recorded minimum temperature reached -1°C. In Kuwait City, temperatures also dipped, with a perceived temperature of 0°C and an actual low of 8°C.

Ramadan explained that this cold snap was particularly intense in desert areas, where such extreme temperature drops are rare. The Meteorological Department's climate data confirms that the cold wave stands out as one of the most severe February cold spells in recent memory, highlighting its unusual nature.
