The Kuwaiti Ministry of Interior's traffic department is considering a proposal to regulate the number of vehicles expatriates own in Kuwait.
The proposal was submitted to combat unlicensed trading, reduce traffic congestion, and solve the issue of parking scarcity in various public spaces.
The proposal suggests issuing a decree to prohibit expats from registering more than two vehicles in their names for personal use.
If an expat needs to register more than two cars, he or she needs to visit the traffic department and submit a request to do so with reasonable justifications.
If the expat's request is approved, fees will be imposed on the extra vehicle and it will be subject to a technical inspection.
