Kuwait's Residency Affairs Department may limit the validity of residency permits to a maximum of one or two years.
This move aims to tackle demographic imbalances and streamline labor requirements in Kuwait.
The proposal is currently being studied and will subsequently be presented to Interior Minister Sheikh Talal Al-Khaled Al-Sabah and the Higher Committee for Demographics Rebalancing, local media reported.
If approved, the decision would affect individuals residing in Kuwait, as most residency permits would be limited to a duration of one year or two years maximum.
However, certain professions would be exempt from this general rule, including doctors, nurses, technicians in the medical sector, teachers and individuals holding senior positions in the private sector.
By limiting residency permits, the Kuwaiti government seeks to effectively manage the workforce.
