Kuwait has begun its first Hindi radio broadcast, announced the Indian Embassy in Kuwait on Monday. The new program will air every Sunday on Kuwait Radio's FM 93.3 and AM 96.3, starting on April 21, 2024, from 8:30 to 9:00 pm.

Hindi Broadcast Enhances Relations

The Indian Embassy praised Kuwait’s Ministry of Information for starting the Hindi-language program, noting it would strengthen the relationship between the two countries.

In a social media post, the embassy expressed appreciation for the initiative and highlighted the positive impact it would have on the Indian community in Kuwait, which is the largest expatriate group in the country, numbering around 1 million.

Indian Community's Influence

Kuwait hosts a diverse Indian community, including professionals in engineering, medicine, business, and other sectors. The Indian Business Community has also established itself in Kuwait's retail and distributorship markets.

Historical Ties

India and Kuwait share a long-standing friendship and deep historical ties. The Indian rupee was once Kuwait’s legal currency until 1961, and the two countries celebrated 60 years of diplomatic relations in 2021-22.
