The Kuwaiti Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs plans to make Kuwait a transit stop for Muslims heading to Makkah to perform Umrah and Hajj pilgrimages.
This project aims to receive one million pilgrims annually from several countries such as Iraq, Iran, Bosnia, and Chechnya, who will cross into Saudi Arabia via Kuwait.
This step comes in coordination with the Ministry of Interior, which will determine the mechanism for the entry of pilgrims, informed sources told Al-Qabas daily newspaper.
A meeting will be held after the holy month of Ramadan to discuss the most prominent points of the project, the sources added.
