Kuwait’s traffic authorities remind drivers that misusing car horns is illegal and could result in fines, points, or jail time.
Lieutenant Colonel Abdullah Bu Hassan, Assistant Director of Traffic Awareness at the General Traffic Department, has issued a warning about the misuse of car horns. According to Lieutenant Colonel Bu Hassan, using a car horn for anything other than alerting drivers to immediate danger or accidents is considered a traffic violation.
Penalties for Misuse
Drivers caught misusing their car horns will face a penalty of KD 25 and one point on their traffic record. In severe cases, where the violation goes to court, offenders could also face jail time.
Proper Use of Car Horns
Lieutenant Colonel Bu Hassan emphasized that car horns should only be used to warn others of potential dangers, not to get attention or cause annoyance. He urged all drivers to follow traffic laws, especially since roads are shared with elderly and vulnerable individuals.
