Kuwait has suspended the issuance of all entry and work visas to Filipino workers, sources from the Kuwaiti Interior Ministry told Kuwait Times.

The decision is issued by First Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Interior and Acting Minister of Defense Sheikh Talal Al-Khalid.

The decision came after the Asian country allegedly violated the provisions of the labour agreement between the two countries.

In February, Philippine labor officials announced that they planned to engage in negotiations with Kuwait to review the labor agreement which was signed by both parties in 2018.

Some 268,000 Filipinos are currently working and living in Kuwait.
