In a dramatic turn of events, the entire board of the Kuwait Football Association (KFA) has resigned following the fallout from chaotic incidents during the recent FIFA World Cup Asian qualifier against Iraq.

The decision comes after an inquiry into the mismanagement at the match, which left fans frustrated and sparked widespread criticism.

The match, held at Jaber Al-Ahmad International Stadium, saw chaotic scenes as thousands of spectators struggled to enter the venue, with reports of some fainting in 40°C heat. Ticket holders were allegedly denied entry, while others without tickets were allowed in, leading to massive confusion.

Following the inquiry's conclusion, the KFA accepted the resignation of its Secretary-General, Salah al-Qanai, and Public Relations Director, Mohamed Bou Abbas. Dr. Saleh Al-Majroub has been appointed as the acting Secretary-General, tasked with overseeing an emergency assembly to elect a new board.

Despite the turmoil off the pitch, the qualifier ended in a goalless draw, leaving Kuwait fourth in Group B as they continue their bid for the 2026 World Cup.
