The Mercer’s Cost of Living City Ranking 2023 ranked Kuwait City 131st out of 227 cities, which makes it the cheapest city for expatriate employees to live and work in.

Dubai 18th and Abu Dhabi ranked 43rd in the UAE for their expensive cost of living. 

Riyadh ranked 8th and Jeddah ranked 101st in Saudi Arabia, which also makes them costly cities to live and work in. 

Bahrain's Manama ranked 98th, while Qatar's Doha ranked 126th, making them fairly costly places to live in. 

Oman's Muscat ranked 130th, which is just one spot above Kuwait, making the latter the cheapest city in the Gulf region for expats to reside in. 

The rankings for Mercer’s Cost of Living City Ranking were estimated after measuring the comparative costs of more than 200 items in each city. The items include housing, food, clothing, transportation, and various other things.
