OPEC producer Kuwait is building an industrial city worth KD 97 million ($320 million) for chemicals and other products, according to press reports on Friday.
The project is named "Al-Shadadiya" and it is located 25 km southwest of the country's capital Kuwait City. It was launched in mid-2022 and it is scheduled to be completed in December 2023.
Trade and Industry Minister Mazin Al-Nahid visited the project site on Thursday and shared that nearly 32% of the project is completed.
"This project will be completed on schedule on Dec 26…it will comprise three main industries covering chemicals, foodstuffs and a variety of light products,” the Minister said.
The industrial city will include 1,000 factories and it has been awarded to the United Gulf Construction Co.
