Just days before its highly anticipated launch, authorities in Kuwait have decided to block the release of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. Scheduled to hit global store shelves on October 25, this latest installment in the popular gaming franchise won't be available in Kuwait, much to the disappointment of local gamers.

Activision’s Response

A spokesperson for Activision shared their thoughts on the matter with IGN, expressing hope that the Kuwaiti authorities would reconsider their decision. Here’s what they said:

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 has not been approved for release in Kuwait. At this time, the title will not be available for release in the region. As a result, all preorders in Kuwait will be cancelled and refunded to the original point of purchase. We remain hopeful that local authorities will reconsider and allow players in Kuwait to enjoy this all-new experience in the Black Ops series.”

Reasons Behind the Ban

While Activision didn’t specify why Black Ops 6 faced a ban, many speculate it may be linked to the game's setting. The narrative unfolds in the 90s during the Gulf War, a conflict that started when Iraq invaded Kuwait on August 2, 1990. Given this context, it’s understandable that regulators might have concerns about the game’s themes and historical references.

The Fallout for Gamers

The decision to block the game has sparked discussions among fans and industry experts alike, with many eager to see whether Activision's plea will lead to a change. For now, gamers in Kuwait will have to wait and see if they can join the action in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 or if they’ll miss out on this new chapter in the series.
