Kuwait's Ministry of Information's committee on cinematic censorship has banned the screening of 'Barbie' after banning the horror film 'Talk to Me'.

The Undersecretary of the Ministry for Press and Publication Lafy Al Subei'e has shared that the decision has been made to protect public ethics and social traditions.

According to the Undersecretary, 'Barbie' and 'Talk to Me' promote an ideology that does not align with Kuwaiti society and their public order.

He explained how the censorship committee usually just censors scenes that counter public ethics.

However, when movies promote ideas and behaviors that are against the local ethics system, then the committee bars the screening of the films.

Although the Middle East has not been immune to Barbie fever, there have been reports of the film being banned in countries other than Kuwait such as Oman

Like Kuwait, Lebanon has also banned the film.
