Kuwait’s Ministry of Islamic Affairs has issued a directive prohibiting imams and muezzins from using mosques for commercial advertisements. The decision aligns with a fatwa from the Ministry’s Iftaa Authority, emphasizing that places of worship should not be used for promoting products or services.

Mosques Are for Worship, Not Business

According to the fatwa, mosques serve a spiritual purpose and must not be exploited for profit-driven activities. Authorities stress that allowing advertisements inside mosques contradicts their religious significance and could distract worshippers.

Circular Issued to All Mosques

A formal notice has been sent to mosques across the country, instructing religious leaders to follow the new regulation. The ministry warned that strict action would be taken against anyone who violates the directive, reinforcing its commitment to preserving the sanctity of these spaces.
