Kuwait Adjusts Working Hours for Disabled During Ramadan

Kuwait is offering a significant adjustment to working hours for employees with disabilities during the upcoming month of Ramadan, starting on Saturday. This change aims to support those fasting while ensuring a balanced work-life routine.
Reduced Working Hours for Disabled Employees and Caregivers
The Kuwaiti Public Authority for the Disabled, led by acting head Wafaa Al Mahna, has announced that all ministries have been approached to reduce working hours for employees with disabilities or those who care for them during the holy month. The reduction will be two hours per day, with full pay, in all government agencies.
This initiative applies to employees with severe, moderate, or simple disabilities, as well as to those who are caregivers for disabled individuals. Additionally, it covers employees who are legally responsible for the care of someone with a moderate or severe disability.
Key Details About the Reduction in Working Hours
The working hours will be adjusted without affecting pay, ensuring that employees do not lose out on income during this important month. This reduction applies to both employees with disabilities and their caregivers.
However, Al Mahna clarified that it is not permitted for two family members to both receive the reduction unless there are multiple disabled individuals in the household. In that case, it must be proven that each person is providing care for a disabled individual. Employees in such situations should coordinate with their workplace to determine the most suitable time for the reduced hours.

When Will the Reduced Hours Apply?
The reduction can be implemented at the beginning or end of the working day, but the two hours cannot be split into smaller intervals. This flexibility will help employees manage their responsibilities while respecting the regulations in place at each government agency.
