Katara Inaugurates Moldovan Section Honoring 25 Years of Relations

Prof Dr. Khalid bin Ibrahim Al Sulaiti, General Manager of the Cultural Village Foundation, Katara, inaugurated the Moldovan Corner in the presence of Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova H.E. Natalia Gavrilita, to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Moldova and the State of Qatar.

H.E. Victor Tvircun, Ambassador of Moldova to Qatar, H.E. Dr. Hamad bin Abdulaziz Al Kuwari, Minister of State and President of Qatar National Library, and a large number of their excellency’s ambassadors and representatives of diplomatic missions were among those who attended the inauguration.

The Moldovan Corner, which is opposite the Italian restaurant Lovisovio, had a bronze sculpture named "Together towards the future," which alluded to the two countries' growing and prosperous relations.

In addition, Building 47 Gallery 2 hosted the exhibition "Image of the World in Stone and Metal," which featured 28 works by seven Moldovan artists. The pieces were composed of bronze, granite, steel, and aluminum and came in a variety of shapes and ideas. It will be open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. until June 28.

"The ties between countries are growing, and people are opening up to each other's cultures with such events," Moldova's Prime Minister said. Dr. Al Sulaiti, for his part, said: "With such events, people are opening up to each other's cultures." Katara Cultural Village devotes all of its efforts and resources to achieving people-to-people rapprochement and building communication bridges, noting that Katara works with various embassies accredited to the country to achieve its mission of being a crossroads of cultures and an umbrella for creativity and creators."

H.E. Victor Tvircun, Ambassador of Moldova, thanked the Katara's organizers for all their help in organizing the activities, highlighting the depth of connections between the Republic of Moldova and the State of Qatar.

Katara has already organized many joint events with the Moldovan Embassy in Qatar, including the presentation of the Moldovan folk orchestra "Vassilivo," the presentation of the Moldovan Academy of Music, and the "Etisalat" exhibition, which featured 38 paintings by Moldova's most recognized painters. Katara organized an art show at the National Art Museum in the Republic of Moldova in 2020 titled "Qatar in the Past, Present, and Future" by Qatari photographer Ali Issa Al Nuaimi.
